As part of International Women’s Day, the BILNAS Archive joined heritage institutions in celebrating the renaming of the University of Leicester’s School of Archaeology and Ancient History in honour of Dame Kathleen Kenyon (1906–1978).

Kenyon was a pioneering archaeologist whose approach to excavation and record-keeping helped advance archaeological stratigraphy, influencing how sites are studied today. BILNAS was honoured to contribute to this event by sharing archival materials from Kenyon’s work in Sabratha, Libya.

Kenyon’s Sabratha papers are now available online and open-access through the Archaeology Data Service
