Summary | A month-long trip to use the John Whitehouse Library, at the University of Sydney, to develop my research on the political and social history of ‘Moorish’ North Africa in late Antiquity. The Whitehouse library is an invaluable collection of archaeological publications, periodicals and secondary literature originally donated to the library in 2013. My research in October-November 2017 will focus on ‘Kingship and Kinship in Moorish North Africa’. This examines archaeological, epigraphic and textual evidence for changing systems of political and social hierarchies in Algeria, Tunisia and Western Libya between the later Roman period and the Arab Conquest. |
