The Benefits of BILNAS Membership
The British Institute for Libyan and North African Studies has over 200 individual members of which around a quarter are based overseas. The membership of the Institute is composed of Honorary Members (elected for distinguished service) and Ordinary Members.
BILNAS Members receive online access to the Institute’s annual Journal, ‘Libyan Studies’, as well as all previous copies, and the opportunity to buy the Institute’s other publications at significantly reduced prices. They also receive copies of the BILNAS Annual Report and annual accounts.
We hold regular online lectures for members and friends, as well as in-person lectures in London. The Institute’s Annual General Meeting is held online in June each year and members have full voting rights on all decisions taken at the BILNAS AGM.
Members may also receive invitations to other social and networking events, such as post-lecture receptions and the British Academy’s annual summer soirée in London.
In addition, members may use BILNAS’s other resources including our extensive Library of books on Libyan and North African subjects, which is currently housed at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, and the BILNAS Archive which includes collections of rare books, manuscripts, documents, photographs and drawings about Libya, which is now held at the University of Leicester.
